Supervision

Dr. Giordano and her colleagues are expert supervisors, with over twenty-five years of practical experience in the field. From additional supervision for masters-level internship to advanced practice support for experienced clinicians, Veduta Consulting will help you meet your supervision needs.

Veduta specializes in the advanced reflective practice model of supervision. Through this system, the practitioner learns to employ the unique counselor/client relationship to become an agent of change for the client. Under expert supervision, counselors will learn to navigate transference and counter-transference therapeutic dynamics with confidence and humility.

Understanding and incorporating the concept of Intentionality is one of the most challenging aspects of therapy for any counselor. Veduta’s supervisors teach counselors to understand this essential concept, its relationship to both theory and practice, and how to use it effectively in therapy. Supervises will learn the meta-cognitive processes they need to move from the supervision relationship to the therapeutic one with insight and intentionality. If that all sounds a bit theoretical to you, Veduta supervisors also teach treatment planning, therapeutic interventions and how to integrate them to make your case notes more efficient and effective.

Consultation

As you may have guessed from our name, Veduta Consulting offers consultation services for individuals and groups. We are happy to schedule single-session or ongoing consultations for counselors and related professions, to address problems with difficult clients, ethical dilemmas, and other clinical relationships or dynamics. Small group consultations, for up to ten attendees, are offered in the Conference Room.

Facilities and Equipment

Veduta Consulting has an approved Supervisory Suite, a warm and comfortable therapy office with an adjoining observation room connected by a 2-way mirror. This suite is available for live supervision, role-plays and similar educational work, as well as actual client sessions requiring observation.

Our Conference Room comfortably seats groups of eight to ten, and is a tranquil, private space with a remarkable view of the famous Chicago lakefront. We offer small consultation/supervision group sessions, reading groups, sessions on advanced reflective practice, and many other activities in this space.

Internet-based remote supervision is available to those outside the Chicago area, using our state-of-the-art in-office data network.

Mentorship

Dr. Giordano combines her expertise in career development with her deep knowledge of the field of Counselor Education to offer mentoring to counseling professionals. Her extensive experience and network of contacts in the professional and educational community allows her to offer constructive insight to professionals from the novice to the experienced, from students to experienced practitioners.

NCMHCE - Test Preparation and Programs

Dr. Giordano has helped thousands of students prepare for the national counseling test. She created and began presenting her very successful series of two-day workshops over twenty years ago, and is constantly updating and improving them. These live, face-to-face and webinar test preparation workshops are offered several times a year, in Illinois through this link.

Dr. Giordano has redesigned her successful NCMHCE Test Preparation training to align it with the new narrative format, taking effect in November 2022. This Test Prep will prepare you to pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) licensing exam — with flying colors! Dr. Giordano’s Linking Logic strategy will be expanded to include the use of Interconnection, Planning, and Intentionality.
